This week, the City of San Francisco sees an influx of international videogame devs attending the 2011 Game Developers Conference (GDC). Inside the conference at booth #731 visitors will have the chance to meet Switzerland’s most progressive videogame developers and academics.

The Swiss gaming industry has grown fast in the past few years with a strong base of local creative and technical talent adhering to the country’s well-known trademark for timely quality. At the Swiss booth visitors will also have the opportunity to test out games such as ColorbindOrbital and the mixed-reality hit, Gbanga.

Gbanga in particular will be presenting new features such as Grand Theft Auto-style sidequests using location-based gaming mechanics. Moreover, on Friday 4th March, the Swiss Consulate, swissnex, welcomes registered guests at the Swiss game reception party. Tickets for the reception party are available at booth #731. [Please note that RSVP is mandatory for this event]

The Swiss game booth is supported by the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia and swissnex San Francisco.

Mixed-reality game studio Gbanga was founded in 2007. Since then, its innovative games and gamified apps for clients such as ABB, BMW, IKEA, Mercedes-Benz and Pro Juventute have been recognized with awards around the world. Gbanga is currently developing several mixed-reality games for clients in parallel with their announced mixed-reality title Advocates of Light, a game based on tower defense mechanics and real maps.
